Audition registration will begin on Mon, Jan 13. Visual Art contestants must submit artwork Mon, Feb 24 through Mon, March 2 in the lobby.

What is the TALENT OF TAFA?

A talent show and fundraiser of EPIC proportions!!

Enrolled TAFA students, ages 5-18 may submit art, photography or audition instrumental/vocal solos, duets, trios, group numbers, dancing, acting, and anything else artistic and entertaining!! We are also looking for witty scriptwriters to be our Master(s) of Ceremony. Be impressive, creative, humorous! Auditions and art submissions must be of high integrity as TAFA desires to honor Christ in all we do. Judges will not permit any art or performance into the show that is even marginally questionable in integrity. Art will be on display in CMC, 2nd-floor pre-show and during intermission. Winners of the Visual Arts and Live Performance will be announced at the conclusion of the show!

There are two age categories to compete in:

  • Jr Division, Ages 5-11
  • Senior Division, Ages 12-18

Master of Ceremony Audition Procedures


SUBMISSION/AUDITION FEES:  $10.00 each artist

VISUAL ART SUBMISSIONS: Visual Artists may submit a maximum of 2 pieces of art.  A $10 payment will be due with the registration form per student.   Checks should be written to TAFA. Cash should be in an envelope with student’s name on it. Debit/Credit payments may also be made at the ART registration table. (Please do not pay the administration.)


Deliver to ART registration table in the Lobby (TAFA entry, depending on the day of the week) with payment/registration form on the following dates: (Art will only be judged if payment and registration form are attached.)

  1. Print must be no smaller than 8x10, no larger than 11x15
  2. Must have a 2-inch black matting mounted on photo
  3. Name on the back of matt
  4. Cover using cardboard/envelope to keep print protected
  5. Photo must have been taken within the current school year
  6. Use of Photoshop is only permitted for cropping, basic light and color adjusting.

LIVE Audition Expectations (Friday, February 7, 9am-1pm)

  • The selection must be a quality “family friendly and TAFA appropriate” performance using any art-form (comedic scene, music, dancing, group number, whistle choir, etc).
  • Parent/Student Commitment Form MUST be submitted from EACH participant at the time of auditions before a student will be permitted to audition.
  • Sign-up for a 7-minute time slot for Friday, Feb 7
  • Auditions are open for parents and students to sit in the room. Please no recording.
  • Upon entering room, student(s) will announce their name(s), title of selection (Create a title if needed), or movie, show, composer the scene is from.
  • Judges will not permit any act into the show that is even marginally questionable in integrity. We desire to honor Christ in all that we do. If in doubt, don’t audition it! Select something different.
  • Perform all elements of the act from memory (if dialogue, must be memorized as well as song and movements)
  • Dress in attire that fits your act.  This can change some if selected to perform, but needs to give us a clear idea of what “look” you are going for if selected. ATTIRE must fit TAFA DRESS CODE (find info at tafa.org....handbook)
  • Use of small props/set pieces are highly encouraged ~ but must be provided by the student(s). No one is permitted to borrow church property to use as props in their act unless given permission in advance of the auditions.
  • Provide your own accompanist, accompaniment CD or ipad/iphone/digital device. If using a CD, inform the room monitor of the track number to play from the CD
  • Student is limited to audition in no more than 1 solo act and/or 3 group acts.  A choir or large group ensemble directed by a TAFA teacher does not count as one of these.

Rehearsal Expectations

  • If selected, each participant and 1 parent must attend a mandatory meeting, Friday, March 20 from 9am-9:30 in Sanctuary.  Parents will be dismissed after unless assisting.
  • Parents may be asked to sign up for a task to assist with rehearsals and for the production
  • Arrive on time & stay in designated rehearsal spaces only.
  • Respect the directors and other student performers
  • Follow dress code for EVERY TAFA EVENT INCLUDING REHEARSALS when not in costume
  • Check ALL rehearsal and performance dates and commit to attend each, unless student becomes ill.  Please contact a director if student becomes ill or an emergency arises.
